Often times when history is being written one key element is frequently airbrushed out, overlooked in favour of tales of derring-do, the bloody battle fought and won: The part played by women.
Hefty tomes catalogue and celebrate the achievements of 'man' telling HIStory in fine detail; the blood, sweat and tears that went into the victory, the magnificent accomplishment, the gallant act, the ultimate sacrifice, the heroes of the Battle of The Atlantic.
It wasn't until I left school and took time out before returning to Northern Ireland, that I realised that I was a Derry Girl to the core. And, it wasn't until I began my first university degree course that I realised the history books in school were exactly that - HIS story.
For the past few months I have been working on a new tour about Derry/Londonderry which will form part of my spring walking tours of the Walled City, and I'd love it if you, your WI or Presbyterian Women's group, school group, church or even just friends and family would like to learn more about HER story.
